Women and Baby in Red Mountains

LJ Chapman is a painter and a stained glass artist. She was born and trained in
pharmacy in London England. She has lived in New Mexico since 1988 and in
beautiful Placitas since 2003.
LJ’s art is influenced by extensive travels, but inspired by Southwestern hues
and the strata of mountain, mesa and desert landscapes. Working mainly in
acrylics, along with some oil, her work is infused with colors and textures in
presenting abstract viewpoints.
After training in Rio Rancho, LJ also creates stained glass panels of her own
design in her home workshop. Themes range from classic stained glass
patterns to contemporary and abstract forms. She uses the varying textures
and patterns within the glass to make her designs unique. However, painting
has more priority on her schedule at this time.
Painting is a life-long passion for LJ. She is primarily self-taught, but has
supplemented her training with college classes in London. Leaving the stress
of a daily work environment behind three years ago, she has devoted herself
to her own work, immersing herself in color and texture.
