Artist's Biography
Jim Carnevale
Jim was born and raised in the Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York.
After completing his undergraduate work at SUNY Brockport, he moved to
Washington DC to continue his graduate work in Architecture at the
University of Virginia and the Catholic University of America.
He spent his career working as an Architect for the Corps of Engineers,
the Smithsonian, and finally the US Department of Justice. After taking an
early retirement he and his partner Rod, ventured westward and settled in
Placitas. They love the warm climate, wide-open spaces and friendly
people of the Southwest.
Jim's passion for photography dates back many years. He continues to
learn and grow in his work having recently completed the professional
photography program at the New York Institute of Photography. His
photographic work has been published both nationally and internationally
and he has won numerous awards for both his photography and
architecture.
His interests in photography are broad and varied. When asked about his
favorite photographic subjects he responds with "whatever happens to be
in front of my lens when I hit the shutter."
